Transferring to Caticlan Jetty

Caticlan Jetty is in the municipality of Malay. Transferring from Kalibo Airport to the jetty is not as difficult as you think since these two points are just in the same province 65 kilometers away from each other. The province of Aklan is modern and the local government did really great in maintaining their well-paved, wide and organized roads. So here are the several options to transfer from Kalibo to Caticlan jetty which is the gateway to 2016 world’s best island according to Condé Nast Traveler.

By Car

If you are not in a tight budget and traveling within a group of 4, then hiring a private car could be a great option. You can easily find the operators once you stepped out of the airport. From Php 1,000 to Php 1,500, you can get a ride to Caticlan Jetty including the boat fare to Cagban Port. By hiring a private car, you can be comfy and won’t feel much of the tight turns in the mountainous roads in the towns of Malay and Nabas.

By Direct Van/Bus

This is the most commonly used transportation to transfer to Caticlan. The fare per person from the airport to the jetty ranges from Php 200 to Php 250 including the boat fare to Cagban Port. Early booking or reservation is not necessary as they are very accessible outside of the airport. .

By Packaged Van/Bus Service

The most convenient and efficient way to reach your hotel in Boracay from Kalibo Airport is by booking a van or bus service in advance via Klook. You can choose between standard and first class transfer service with price starting at Php 490 by van and Php 480 by bus.

Boat Ride From Caticlan Jetty To Cagban Port

Once you’ve reached the jetty, you can easily find out how you can cross to the paradise island. If the boat ticket is not part of transfer package that you bought, you have to purchase it from the counter for Php 25 (daytime rate) or Php 30 (night time rate). Then you can pay for the terminal fee (Php 100) and environmental fee (Php 75).

Once you have secured your ticket and paid all the fees, you may then proceed inside the terminal and register your name in the counter. After the registration, you can already proceed to the jetty and embark the boat. Travel time to Cagban Port is approximately 10-15 minutes depending on the sea condition.

Transfer from Cagban to your Hotel

Upon reaching Cagban, you may opt to get  a porter to assist with your luggage and send you to the tricycle terminal. The tricycle capacity is good up to 6 pax. Estimated fare to Station 1, 2 and 3 is Php 150. This may vary depending on the actual location of the hotel you booked in Boracay. If you are in a group of 4 or more, then you can even hire a van for Php 250 up to Station 1.

If your going to explore the Island from one place to another, riding a tricycle is the easiest way to do it. From Station 1, 2 and 3 to D Mall will only cost you Php 10 per person. But if you are getting a tricycle from a queue, then be ready to pay for Php 20 per person.

You can also try to negotiate with the drivers and ask to lower down the price. We had many success on doing that during our last trip in Boracay.

Well I hope that this article will help you to find your way to Boracay from Kalibo. Following the guides above will make your transfer to the world’s best island smooth and convenient.
